The County of Nansemond has vanished. I have had a difficult time trying to understand where it disappeared to. Apparently this is the explanation.

I do not pretend to understand what happened in 1871 in Virginia and furthermore I refuse to delve any further into the history of what happened. All I know is that Virginians lost their minds and have confused the ideas that somehow cities can be counties and counties can be cities.
Counties are not cities. No amount of foolish government bullshit arguments to the contrary can change that fact.
If you care, which I do not, here is how Wikipedia explains it:

I suspect that the events of 1871 had something to do with Virginia losing the War of Northern Aggression in 1865. Virginia and the other Southern states were invaded and occupied by the Northern Aggressors, affectionately known then as carpetbaggers, exactly how they do now…they totally screwed things up and attempted to steal every dime they could get their hands on. Virginia has never recovered from losing that endeavor.
I shall attempt to recover the lost Nansemond as time permits…
Virginians will simply have to man up and throw out the Invaders…which apparently they do not have the testosterone to do… not then and not now.
Today there is this place called “the City of Suffolk”… rest assured that that place is actually Nansemond. You are not alone in realizing that fact… we are simply surrounded by lunatics.
Here is where Nansemond was… back when people had functioning brains…
